Giuseppe Romano is a fully licensed En-Route and APP/TWR ATCO at ENAV S.p.A., currently serving as Head of the Research and Operational Analysis Unit at ENAV Headquarters in Rome.
In his role, he is responsible for the definition, measurement and publication of the Company’s environmental and sustainability performance, with a particular focus on the quantification of flight efficiency benefits achieved in the national operational environment following ATM implementations. His responsibilities also include the monitoring of the sustainability targets within Air Traffic Management (ATM) operations.
He has solid operational experience and is actively involved in ATM related research activities, contributing to both national and international projects, with a significant and sustained involvement in the SESAR Programme. In this context, he participates both in projects where the Company is directly engaged and in Programme level working groups, contributing at strategic level as well as to the post analysis validation of performance outcomes achieved by ATM initiatives.
He is an active contributor to the international ATM community through participation in several EUROCONTROL/EASA working groups, as well as in activities coordinated by CANSO. Within these frameworks, he supports the development and publication of studies and guidance material aimed at mitigating the environmental impacts of ATM operations and enhancing measurable operational and environmental benefits delivered by operational implementations, including studies on the management and mitigation of contrail formation.
Giuseppe Romano holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Messina and a postgraduate Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Roma Tre University.
