Dr. Hazel Jeong is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University College of Medicine, with specialized training in pediatric emergency medicine and disaster medicine. Her work focuses on pediatric disaster preparedness, crisis communication, and education for pediatric clinicians, including the unique needs of Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN). She serves as the Disaster Ambassador for the AAP Ohio Chapter, co-leads the AAP Council on Children and Disasters (COCD) Education Subcommittee, and helps guide several federally funded initiatives such as Region V for Kids and the Pediatric Pandemic Network. As Communication Co-Lead for Region V for Kids, she has led efforts to design, analyze, and disseminate pediatric disaster information through social media, contributing to research on communication effectiveness during disasters.
