Gilbert S. Gonzalez joined SABOR in 2012 as Vice President of Risk Management and General Counsel before becoming Chief Executive Officer in 2018.  During his time as General Counsel, he served the Association by providing legal guidance and advice to the Association on legal matters, spanning corporate governance, human resources, contract negotiations, policies and procedures, and strategic planning.  In this role, he also supervised the government affairs team, providing legal interpretation of existing and new legislation and representing the Board’s interest at stakeholder meetings.  As Chief Executive Officer, he continues to work alongside the Board of Directors and direct the staff in developing and deploying strategies to support and enhance the operations at the Association.  Prior to joining SABOR, Gilbert served as a staff attorney for the Bexar County Courts Administration and also worked as an assistant district attorney in the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.  He is a native San Antonian and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University.
