Asymmetrical Neural–Mechanical Coupling Associated with Arthrogenic Muscle Inhibition in Females after Unilateral Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

2026-07-01 | 03:56 PM - 04:03 PM

Learning Objectives:

Identify the association between quadriceps central activation ratio (CAR) and rate of torque development (RTD) in females after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Interpret the bilateral differences in the association between quadriceps activation and explosive quadriceps strength in the reconstructed and contralateral limbs after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction females. Propose potential clinical implications for incorporating neural disinhibition and explosive quadriceps strength training to promote symmetrical recovery following ACLR.

Keywords: quadriceps activation; rate of torque development; symmetrical recovery
