FINALLY, SOMETHING NEW FOR WRIST & ANKLE SPRAINS!! We are excited to introduce the WrapAdapt Soft Wrap Recovery Brace for Grade 1 and Grade 2 wrist and ankle sprains. This innovative product features a patented ergonomic design developed by an Occupational Therapist utilizing biomechanical leverage and neuromuscular re-education principles. The brace is available in both right and left models and can be worn for either wrist or ankle injuries due to the similarities in joint function, bone structure, and the presence of ligaments and tendons. WrapAdapt is worn by wrapping and layering premium high-gauge neoprene from Benik that provides protective support while pulling weaker structures into the complex system of muscles, long tendons, and ligaments that surround the wrist or ankle, assisting in the restoration of normal movement patterns. The fully conforming neoprene compression during active movement assists normal movement, controls edema, and provides neutral warmth to increase blood flow for healing without fueling inflammation in injured areas. Application is pain-free, and the brace can be worn comfortably with all types of footwear. The concept of "optimal movement quality" is achieved when the appropriate joints and muscle groups perform their intended functions without interference from muscles that should not be engaged. Correct and balanced movement patterns ensure proper load distribution and reduced strain. Soft braces that use restrictive joint locks or stays to support weakened joints can disrupt normal movement patterns during use. This disruption may lead to compensatory movement patterns where stronger muscles take over, hindering the recovery of weakened areas and potentially limiting their full strength. Such unbalanced compensatory patterns can cause suboptimal muscle activation, increasing the risk of overuse injuries, muscle imbalances, micro-instability, and future re-injuries. Research on neoprene knee sleeves consistently shows that neoprene provides superior proprioceptive feedback during movement compared to other brace materials. Neuroscience studies support the idea that proprioception enables the nervous system to identify and activate preferred optimal movement patterns during cyclical activities. Facilitating normal movement patterns helps activate the kinetic chains associated with familiar neurodevelopmental movements that are pre-programmed in the central nervous system (CNS). This approach may offer a more efficient way to recover and strengthen balanced, smooth, and coordinated movement after injury. HOW IT WORKS: Benik’s thick, plush neoprene with four-way stretch gently grips the skin, providing conforming, moderate support that targets injured areas. It assists weaker joints to work synergistically with stronger related muscle groups and maximizes proprioceptive feedback. The broader part of the wrap first encircles the interosseous membrane/syndesmosis joint area in the forearm or lower leg, offering proximal stability and leverage efficiency for weakened distal joint movements. The angled, stretchy long strap conforms around the tendons and ligaments surrounding the ankle and wrist, specifically targeting and supporting injured areas. Adjusting the attachment location of the long strap allows for dynamic support for desired movements. For instance, wrapping the strap under the foot like a stirrup and pulling it up and over the ankle applies compressive support to the plantar fascia, enhancing leverage and stability for stance, and aiding forward propulsion during walking and running. Attaching the strap higher up the leg helps discourage inversion rolling. For Grades 1 and 2 wrist sprains, the strap compresses and supports injured areas like the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) or scapholunate ligament to stabilize the radius and ulna during hand gripping or forearm rotation. The brace can be further customized with scissors to make adjustments for size and thenar area.
