Launched in 2011, the Barrow Concussion Network (BCN) is a pioneer in concussion education and telemedicine in the United States. As a part of the Brain Injury and Sports Neurology Center at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ, the BCN offers specialized concussion education, assessment, and telemedicine services to health care professionals, coaches, teachers, parents, and student-athletes. A specialty program offered through the BCN is Barrow Brainbook, a gamified concussion course that is currently mandatory for all Arizona high school athletes. Since 2011, the Barrow Concussion Network has educated over 1 million student-athletes and has provided more than 250,000 baseline concussion tests, 30,000 post-injury tests, and hundreds of telemedicine opinions, return-to-learn recommendations, and return-to-play recommendations. The team behind the Barrow Concussion Network is committed to providing innovative and timely support throughout all stages of the concussion continuum – from prevention and pre-injury, to post-injury and recovery.
