Dr Matthew Brancaleone is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Athletic Training at Ohio State University. He completed both his athletic training and physical therapy training at Central Michigan University. Following this, he completed his Sports Physical Therapy Residency and PhD training at Ohio State University. Both his clinical and research interests focus on athletes who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Clinically, Dr. Brancaleone completed his athletic training internship at Gallaudet University, which is the only university in the world where all services are barrier free for individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and has also served on the USA Deaf Sports Federation medical team for the Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2013, Caxias du Sol, Brazil in 2022, and Tokyo, Japan in 2025. From a research perspective, his research primarily focuses on concussion management of athletes who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
