Zachary Kerr PhD, MPH

Dr. Zachary Yukio Kerr is an Associate Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina, and Core Faculty at the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center and the Human Movement Science Curriculum. Dr. Kerr earned a PhD in Epidemiology from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2014. Dr. Kerr’s research applies epidemiology to the study of sport-related injuries, with a focus on traumatic brain injury, and exertional heat stroke. Dr. Kerr also examines pedagogical approaches to injury prevention and exercise science education. Dr. Kerr has published over 275 peer-reviewed articles and has received funding from the CDC, NIH, NSF, NFL, and other national organizations. Dr. Kerr is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and an Honorary Member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
