ATI Physical Therapy

Chris King, a native of Oneonta, Alabama, is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and a proud 38 year member of the NATA. 25 of those years he spent as a high school teacher where he retired in 2017 and now manages ATs for 20+ high schools in Alabama. As a social studies teacher there has always been a strong interest in the legislative process and that has driven his interest in governmental affairs for athletic training.

His past leadership roles have included in Alabama, serving as ALATA Executive Council member, Secondary School Chair, GAC Chair, State President, and Parliamentarian. In District 9, he has served on the Executive Board as a state president, and Governmental Affairs Committee member and D9 GAC Chair. This includes serving D9 on the NATA Governmental Affairs Committee. He has served for over 10 years on the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers and is currently the Chair of the Board of Athletic Training. Today he humbly serves as District Director-Elect for District 9 on the NATA Board of Directors.

He has been very active in AT legislative activities since 2012. He has had the honor of representing ATs in multiple state houses as well as the US Congress. His biggest honor has come from being associated with the passing of multiple pieces of legislation in Alabama and having been involved with legislation across D9 as well as beyond. In Alabama, he has been involved with the 2021 AT Practice Act, 2023 Rural School AT Incentive Law, and the 2025 AT Student Loan Assistance Program. He has been a direct part of 9 Alabama State Laws since 2021 that directly affects Athletic Trainers. None of this is possible without great supporting people and an outstanding lobbyist.

He is immensely proud of his family, who is deeply rooted in community service. His wife is a math specialist for Athens State University, his oldest son is a police officer in Birmingham, and his youngest son is a biology teacher in Huntsville.
