Dr. Steven Dischiavi is an Associate Professor in the Hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. With over three decades of experience in sports rehabilitation—including a decade as the Director of Rehabilitation and team physical therapist and assistant athletic trainer for the NHL’s Florida Panthers—Dr. Dischiavi has cultivated a career that bridges high-level clinical practice with academic rigor. His journey began in outpatient rehabilitation, where he managed clinics for a nationally recognized organization and later founded his own private practice. These experiences laid the foundation for his transition into academia, where he now contributes as a researcher and educator. Board certified in Sports Physical Therapy (SCS), and holding certifications in manual therapy (COMT), dry needling (Cert DN), and athletic training (ATC), Dr. Dischiavi brings a multifaceted perspective to injury prevention and performance enhancement. His PhD research explores therapeutic exercise strategies aimed at optimizing lower extremity biomechanics and reducing injury risk. A sought-after speaker for national platforms such as MedBridge and the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Health Institute, Dr. Dischiavi is committed to advancing clinical reasoning and movement science through evidence-informed education.
