Shane V. Caswell, PhD, LAT, ATC, CSCS, FNATA is a Professor of Athletic Training and Kinesiology at George Mason University and the founding Executive Director of the Sports Medicine Assessment, Research & Testing (SMART) Laboratory. His work focuses on advancing concussion prevention, assessment, and care delivery in school and community settings through implementation-focused, transdisciplinary research.

Dr. Caswell leads nationally recognized initiatives, including the Advancing Healthcare Initiatives for Underserved Students (ACHIEVES) project and the Virginia Concussion Initiative (VCI), which support athletic trainers and schools in applying evidence-based concussion practices in real-world settings. A Fellow of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, his work has been recognized for sustained contributions to research, clinical practice, and community impact.
